Pastor John Wooden

John grew up in Hilliard, Ohio. He's an alumnus of The Ohio State University and The Methodist Theological School in Ohio. He's an ordained Elder in The United Methodist Church. In addition to being the Pastor of Stone Village Church, John is also a chaplain for Ohio Health Hospitals.

Prior to Stone Village, John served King Avenue United Methodist Church for a decade before setting out to build Stone Village in 2010.

John's personal philosophy of pastoral ministry is simple, "love one another," which is the foundation of Stone Village's life, community, ministries, mission, and service on behalf of God in the world. As an openly gay man, having lived much of his life in the margins of his faith tradition, John's passion for ministry lies with those who live in the margins, seeking acceptance, justice and understanding on their behalf.

When he's not at Stone Village, he's likely at home with his boys - two German Shepherds, Ebenezer and Josiah, and one Labrador Retriever, Gideon - and in the middle of or preparing for a new home improvement project. John's also an avid runner, cyclist, yogi, art and film enthusiast, and bookworm.

Andrew Gifford

Worship Leader

Andrew is one of the worship leaders of Stone Village Church. Being a United Methodist PK (Pastor's Kid), he grew up all over Northeast and North Central Ohio. Andrew has a Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Toledo and a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Worship from Ashland Theological Seminary.

Andrew previously worked as a Preschool Teacher and gave private piano and percussion lessons to children 3-6 years old while also reading the exhaustive works of Eric Carle. He currently serves as the Community Engagement Specialist for Church World Service, an ecumenical humanitarian organization with a mission to transform communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.

Andrew's philosophy of worship is that everyone should be given an opportunity to connect with God through worship; whether it be through communion, a hymn, contemporary song, Ancient Latin Text, or quiet reflection. He loves that SVC offers such diversity in worship while remaining rooted in historic tradition.

When not at SVC, Andrew enjoys tending to his flowers, traveling, cooking/baking, eating ice cream, and binge-watching shows on Netflix and Hulu.

Quinn Halas-Wright

Worship Leader

Originally from Muncie, IN, Quinn came to Ohio in 2004 to earn his Bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University and his Master's of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary. He moved to Columbus in 2011 and immediately started working with Stone Village as a worship leader. Quinn also currently works with the James Cancer Hospital.

Quinn and his husband Steve live in the Glen Echo neighborhood with their two French Bulldogs, Reagan and Bogart. He is a burgeoning baker who loves macarons, as well as a recent tabletop gaming enthusiast with a penchant for Pathfinder and Dungeons and Dragons.

Quinn enjoys serving the Stone Village community because its members truly seek to follow the teachings of Jesus through their actions. He appreciates the congregation's desire to be a part of each other's lives, and he enjoys the unexpected surprises that may develop during any given service. If John says, "That service was a gong show," there's a good chance Quinn was the one swinging the mallet.

Beata Gray

Children's Minister

Beata was born to Hungarian immigrants in Wheeling, WV, but spent most of her growing up years in Central Ohio.  She served in the military (prior to joining a Mennonite church) and has always found teaching children to be her path of service whether teaching Sunday School or teaching students in an academic setting.  Currently Beata teaches Reading Remediation at The Patriot Preparatory Academy Charter School in Whitehall, but has taught a variety of subjects and grades throughout her teaching career.

While Beata can't remember when she didn't have a love of Jesus, she feels that the best way to follow Him is to love others, especially those who are marginalized, and to show children how wonderful it is to know Him.

While a relatively new Stoner, she has enjoyed leading Sunday school, getting to know the children and their parents, and when the pandemic hit, getting to stay connected with them through organizing crafts to complete at home.

When Beata is not teaching, she spends time with her children (even though they are grown, they are still the most cherished part of her life), makes cards, hikes, cooks, and loves to read.

Council of Twelve

Stone Village's Council of Twelve (C12) is a leadership board comprised of eleven church members and Pastor John. C12 meets quarterly, and its function is to support the church's staff, ensure the church is equipped to be successful in outreach and ministry,

and cast a vision for Stone Village's future.
